This page describes the web services in more detail, including example URLs so you can get started with integrating this easy-to-use feed into your application right away.

Basic URL Structure

Forecasts can be accessed via RESTm using an URL of this format:
http://www.gfsxml.com/webservice/forecast/FORMAT/LON/LAT

For example:
http://www.gfsxml.com/webservice/forecast/xml/175/-40
http://www.gfsxml.com/webservice/forecast/json/177/-39

Valid formats are as follows: xml json

The service requires HTTP Basic authentication, using the same username and password you use to log in to the site.


Output Explanation

The output is pretty self-explanatory: a list of forecast snapshots. These snapshots represent forecasts every 3 hours, for the next 168 hours.

Each time snapshot includes the time of the forecast in both UTC and the local time for the location given, and includes all measurements in both metric and AMerican units.
